From India to the World: Textiles from the Parpia Collection

The Indonesian American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) was honored to participate in the exhibition From India to the World: Textiles from the Parpia Collection, held at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, on Sunday, September 7, 2025 and Friday, September 12, 2025.

The event brought together members of Houston’s diverse communities to celebrate the rich cultural heritage and far-reaching influence of Indian textiles.

The exhibition presented a compelling narrative of how Indian textile traditions have journeyed across continents, shaping and inspiring artistic practices around the world.

Attendees explored the historical role of Dutch traders in introducing Indian textiles to Southeast Asia, particularly Indonesia, where they influenced traditional styles such as batik and kain tenun, also known as IKAT.

IACC extends its sincere appreciation to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the Houston Indian community for the opportunity to engage in this meaningful cultural experience.

The event highlighted the importance of cross-cultural dialogue and the enduring legacy of textile artistry in connecting communities globally.

A celebration of culture, craftsmanship, and connection.
